Will I be insured on another car if ... ???
(Ontario)
Will I be able to drive my mother's car if I am insured under my father and step mother? I am insured on my mother's car as well, because I am already insured on my father's and stepmothers? Or would I have to be put on my mother's insurance in order to drive her car?
Thanks!
Fathers Policy and Mothers Policy
Hi there
Opinions vary on this situation among insurance reps. Some will say you should be listed on both policies (in a situation where your parents are split). Others will say that you should only be listed on the policies where you reside most of the time. (i'm assuming you are younger and living with your parents still)
If you are listed on dad's policy and mainly drive one of his cars, then my opinion is that you should not have to be listed on mom's policy unless you drive her car regularly (ie every week).
It's always best to speak with your own insurer open and honestly. Otherwise you risk being accused of misrepresentation at the time of a claim.
Hope that helps a little
