Water Damage Insurance Coverage in question
We have a home on the market, have been paying high premiums as a result of the "vacant" home.
There was a showing of the home on Thursday, Friday, my husband checked on the house, on Saturday there was a puddle of water in the middle of the living room floor. He immediately discovered the problem and shut the water leading to the toilet in the master bathroom off. We called the insurance broker, he told us to call the restoration people, we did and met with them, there is extensive damage to the l/r ceiling, floor and a wall. Meaning that the flooring will have to be replaced as well as ceiling and wall, including the crown moldings. The bathroom flooring, closet flooring and master bedroom flooring must be replaced. We just received a call from the broker, telling us that because it's a "vacant" home, there is no insurance coverage. We're very upset about this and would like to see your answer as to what we do now, or do we pay these high premiums for naught?
Thank you and we await your reply.
Vacant Home and Water Damage
Hi there
Sorry for the delay. It sounds as though water damage is excluded from the
Vacant House Insurance coverage that you had. This type of coverage is usually very expensive, and very limited.
Please be sure to discuss this with a licensed insurance representative. And you can try getting quotes here:
