Temporary Driver Insurance
by Robert
(Toronto)
I'm recently moved to Toronto, and I have had to change my address, thus I had to change my Ministry of Transportation (drivers license) and Ministry of health (Health Card) addresses. Before this moved I lived at my parents house and was a tempory driver on their cars. I was wondering if I can still maintain that temporary driver status on their car even though I no longer live there and my address is different.
The reason I ask if that I've heard that once you don't have insurance for 6 months you must start your license process all over again starting at a beginners permanent.
Occassional Driver
Hi Robert
You can continue to be listed as an occasional driver on your parents policy. This will maintain a continuous insurance record.
If you are removed from the policy, you will not lose your drivers license, or start again as a beginner. Insurance is not required to maintain your license.
Please be sure to discuss this further with a licensed insurance representative. Oh, and by the way, are your rates too high? Check here:
