suspended license and accident
by Shawn
(ontario, canada)
Hi I was driving my dad truck which he has insurance on but I'm not names as an insured person on the policy. I drove his truck and got into an accident and my license was suspended. The other party is suing the insurance company for lost wages etc. My question is if my dads insurance company can sue me for the claims made by the other party? I live in Ontario and am really worried and don't know what to do now.
Thanks.
Suspended License and Accident
Hi Shawn,
If your license was suspended while you were driving, you're in trouble as the policy could be void.
But if it was suspended as a result of the accident then the insurer should cover the claim(s). In other words, if you were licensed at the time of the accident, you should be fine.
All that said, if your dad misrepresented himself in setting up the policy, it could cause problems. For example, if you live at your dads house and he said you didn't.
Hope that helps a little and everything works out ok.
