If you drive a vehicle in Ontario that is insured but you are not insured is this legal?
Insurance question from South Porcupine
- if anyone is wondering where South Porcupine is, it is near Timmins, North of Sudbury -
Hi Katherine
Thanks for your question.
Assuming the question is understood, it is legal. If the vehicle's owner, who is also the policy holder, gives a licensed but uninsured driver permission to take the car, then the insurance is in force.
It's a good practice to check these things directly with your carrier. And let them know if the person driving the car lives in the household as they should be added to the policy.
Hope that helps a bit.
