Seperated parents, does child need to be on both policies?
My wife and I are separated and we have a 17 year old daughter.
The question is does the 17 year old have to be insured at both addresses as an occasional driver in Ontario and if she has an accident how would the claim work?
Child of Separated Parents and Insurance
I recently heard a couple of insurance brokers debating this very issue. One was adamant that the child only needs to be on one policy. The other felt just as strongly that the child needs to be listed on both policies. What matters the most is what your insurance companies think. So start by asking them.
If your daughter has an accident, the insurance on the vehicle that she is driving will be responsible.
