Secondary Insurance on father's second car

by Joseph
(Toronto, Ontario)

My father owns two cars both of which he is the primary insurance holder on. He lives alone and I don't have a car. Can I be put as a occasional driver on one of his cars?

Secondary Driver On Ontario Car Insurance

Hi Joseph,
If you live with him, his insurer might want to class you as a primary on one vehicle. But if you don't live with him, they should let you be an occasional.

Hope that makes sense?

By the way, are his rates too high? Check here:

2 cars, 2 drivers, 1 must be the Princapal. Unless you are excluded from one car, or dont live in the household. every situation is different, give your broker a call.
