Same Address?
by Stephanie
(Ontario)
I am moving in with my boyfriend, but am currently under my parents insurance. My car is in my fathers name for financial reasons. Is it legal to be insured under a family policy when i do not live at the same residence anymore? I am 25.
Insured under fathers policy
Hi Stephanie
If your father owns the car and the insurance is in his name you are okay to drive it with his permission. He needs to let the insurance company know how exactly you are using his car. He needs to give them your address and explain all of the details, including the details about your boyfriend.
If this information is not disclosed he could have problems at time of claim.
