Pre-Inspection
(Ontario Canada)
Due to Ontario's pre-inspection law in order to get car insurance I am told I need to send pictures of my vehicle to document existing damage. I agreed to this, as I understand it is a method of preventing false claim fraud. However, before I sent the pictures I was told that I would have to repair any damage in order to get full coverage.
I am wondering if the insurance company can deny me full coverage if I refuse to repair superficial damage (note: none of the damages affects the safety of the car)
Pre-Inspection
Hi there,
I don't think there is a "pre-inspection" law in Ontario. But it sounds like that is the policy of your auto insurer.
If you want full coverage, you'll have to shop around for a company willing to overlook this (i there are any), or you will have to fix the damage. Insurers don't cover pre-existing damage.
Hope that helps
