Portable sheter coverage
I have a large portable shelter ( 14 ft x 40 ft.) that was destroyed during a storm. My boat that was parked in the shelter was also damaged. Do home owners policies cover portable shelter replacement costs? Will the damage to the boat be covered by my home or my boat insurance company ? Will I have to pay 2 separate deductibles? I live in Ontario.
Damage to Shelter and Boat
There will likely be two separate claims if the home and boat are insured at different co's. That means two deductibles. The home policy should cover the shelter as personal property or as a detached structure.
All of this depends entirely on your policy coverage and wordings. It can vary quite a bit with these types of coverages. Hopefully you have good coverage in place.
