Pink slip has not arrived - new insurance provider

I changed insurance companies last week. My old providers insurance expired today and my new provider started today. I was given a policy # and told my papers would be in the mail within 2-3 days. Is it safe for me to drive without proof of insurance other than the policy number?
No Liability Card

You should get them to email you a copy of the liability card or you should go pick it up. You'll get a ticket if you get pulled over without it.
