Passenger with Open Liquor

(Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
My daughter was a passenger in a vehicle driven by another girl. The other girl had previous drinking and driving convictions, and had bought a case of beer which was opened inside the vehicle. They were pulled over, and my daughter stupidly claimed the case was hers, and was given a ticket for $125.
As I said, she was a passenger in this other persons car at the time, and she had NOT been drinking. The police took her drivers license information to write her the ticket. Does this go on her driving record, and will this affect her insurance rates on her own vehicle?
Ticket for Open Alcohol in Vehicle
Hi Gordon,
If this shows up on her driving record the impact on her rates could be substantial. That said, she wasn't driving, so I am not clear if this would go on her record. It could be that the police officer took her license for identification purposes only.
You should probably get legal advice on this one.
