My son is 20 had 3 very minor tickets and is paying an outragious amount of insurnace

my son is 20, he has had 3 very minor tickets, and is paying a ridiculous premium. 500 dollars a month, his first ticket will be off finally in Jan 2012. In the mean time he was trying to keep up with his payment and was canceled twice for non payment. I am trying to help him out by having the premiums come out of my bank account, but the broker says no way he will have to pay the full premium. That is unreal.
Are thee any other options for my son? is there anyone out there that can help him.
He has never had a DWI or any accidents, ok sure he was young and got 3 tickets, one was for going through a yellow light, speeding 15kms over and no seatbelt.
Those are very minor tickets, and he has to pay big time for a few minor tickets, hate to see what someone has to pay for DWI or had an accident.
Can't afford to drive, my son is a good kid and sure made a few mistakes, but come on now, to require payment of 6 grand in full. Uncalled for.
One very angry parent.
Son With Three Tickets
Hi Judy
Thanks for asking ...
Your anger is certainly understandable. It's a frustrating situation to be in.
Most, if not all insurers do not accept clients with three or more tickets in the past three years. So your son is likely with a high risk carrier (read more about this at:
High risk insurance Ontario )
With a cancellation for non-payment, it will be very difficult to find an auto insurer in Ontario that will offer monthly payments. His best bet will likely be to go for a 6 month policy.
To save money, he will need to shop around. It wouldn't surprise me if he could save about $1000 per year if he got enough quotes. Try here:
