My home insurance policy gets terminated
by Nikita
(Toronto, Ontario)
Greetings!
I bought and insured a house June 30, and one week later my neighbour, during the ongoing construction on his property, excavated and damaged my foundation wall, roof and fence.
I called the insurance company, they came over and week later called me saying this peril is not insured.
I did not argue that, but anyways- today i got a letter from them dated 31st of August and saying
"Please be advised that the risk no longer meets the underwriting criteria of TD General Insurance due to a material change in risk.
For this reason all coverage provided under this policy will terminate effective September 18."
Please help, It's my first house and I've never had any insurance claims before and do not really know how to react. Thank you.

Hi Nikita
The damages to your home are not covered under your insurance company's policy wordings so they denied the claim. And due to the damages, your home is at further risk of damage so the insurer is no longer willing to offer coverage.
You will have difficulty finding new coverage until the damages are repaired. You should seek legal counsel as it appears that your neighbour is liable for the damages
Good luck with this
