Motorcycles and adding extra drivers to an auto policy
by Sheila
(Kitchener Ontario Canada)
My question is our daughter is considered an occasional driver on our auto policy. My husband and I have 2 vehicles so she is just occasional. If my husband bought a motorcycle would we then have 3 vehicles as far as insurance goes? Only he has an M licence and he wouldn't be able to use it for anything other than leisure and can't obviously use it during inclement weather. Would our insurance rise as though she was now a principal driver?
Motorcycle Impact on Auto Rating
Hi Sheila,
With most auto insurers, he could be the primary on the motorcycle and one auto as well. So most likely you are okay.
