minor accident
by Courtny
(Toronto)
My car's door made a small dent on the car door next to mine. The owner of the car got in contact and I suggested paintless dent repair for his car which will cost around $150 to repair which I'm willing to pay. But he wants to take his car to the dealer. I think the cost will be over $1,000 if has to repaint it.
We haven't exchange insurance info.
Would it hurt my insurance rate if I report the accident two weeks later? Do I have to give the other driver my insurance info?
Damage to Other Vehicle
Hi Courtny
This is a tough one. The claim will impact your rates. And you should report it soon if you are going to put it through insurance.
You are supposed to provide insurance information when asked after an accident.
I don't blame the other owner for wanting to go to his dealer. But I get why you'd prefer to try something else.
Good luck.
