Lending my car and Insurance

(Ontario)
Can my uncle from Germany drive my car under my insurance? Can he drive into the United States?
Answer - Lending car and Insurance
Hi Darren
If he has a valid drivers license I see no reason why you can't lend your car to him. But I wouldn't in your case.
If he has an accident it will impact your rates for six years. And things get even more complicated if you factor in driving anywhere out of province.
And outside of the insurance concerns, I imagine it would be a problem crossing the border!
I really don't recommend lending your car out to your uncle. If you decide to, I recommend calling your insurer and letting them know about it.
Sorry to be negative and a little vague about the potential problems.
Best Regards
