Leaving My Car with my Grandson in Another Province

by Carol
(Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada)

I live in Nova Scotia. I am getting a new car and I want to give my cuurrent car to my Grandson in Ontario. Because of Insurance costs etc. he is 18 yrs. old, I want to leave the car registration in MY name and address and keep pay the insurance with my current N.S. insurance company although, as indicated, the car will remain permanently in Ontario. Is this okay ??

Car from Nova Scotia in Ontario

Hi Carol
This sounds like misrepresentation. Don't do it. It's not worth the potential consequences.

Please transfer the ownership to your grandson and have him get insurance in his name.

Hope that helps.
