Is it illegal to have no house insurance?
(Canada)
I currently own and house with my common law partner, he cancelled the house insurance, is it illegal not to have insurance on the house?
House with no Insurance
Not that I know of. Certainly not in Ontario. A mortgage company can insist on it to protect their interests. But if there is no mortgage and someone is willing to take the chance of losing a big investment, that's their choice.
Maybe you and your partner can consider having a very high deductible to save money. Like $5000 or even $10,000.
