International drivers licence insurance?

Can I get insurance on my car with a g1 ontario drivers licence?
( I have a full drivers licence from Barbados for the last 4 years with insurance from there as well- but no Ontario insurance company will use it towards experience for a cheaper quote)
Would I be able to get "temporary insurance " for my car until I get my full g - test is already booked, and then get re-quoted with the lower rate for attaining my G licence?

Hi there,
Unfortunately for you, you need to have a G2 or G license to get insurance in Ontario.

Once you go from G1 to G2, you can get a policy. And your rates should drop once you get your G license.
