Insurnce cancelled, need new policy

Hi I had my insurance canceled a year and a half ago for non-payment. I am looking to get insurance and I have a G2. Will I get insurance or will I be denied because of the cancellation and because I only have a G2? I do need insurance because I'm gonna need to drive to work now. How difficult will it be for me to find insurance? and will insurance companies know I had my policy canceled if I don't tell them it was?
