Insurance required or not for daughter?
by Joe
(Ontario, Canada)
My daughter just received her G2 license, is she required to be insured under my policy to drive my vehicle?
If she is required and does not get put under my policy and gets into an accident what are the repercussions.
Daughter with G2 license and insurance
Hi Joe, You really should have let the insurance company know about your daughter when she got her G1. There is usually no impact on rates at that stage, but they want to know who the drivers are.
Now that she has her G2 do not hesitate to let your auto insurance company know that she is licensed and driving your vehicles.
Otherwise you risk problems at time of claim. And no one wants problems with insurance claims.
Please give your insurer a call at your earliest convenience.
By the way, your rates will very likely increase. If it seems to be too high, get a quote here:

You can even get quotes there first to get an idea of what to expect when you call your insurer. But all the same, make sure to let your auto insurance company know without delay.
