Insurance question

(Mississauga Ontario Canada )
I'm planning on buying a car very soon, and thinking of getting the insurance under my name rather than my parents, I just wanted to know what the benefits are of getting the insurance under my own name, I'm a 21 year old male living in Mississauga Ontario, if that makes any difference
21 Year Old and Insurance
Hi Jay,
If you buy your own car, you're supposed to buy the insurance too. When you shop around, it would probably be worthwhile to check with your parents company for rates as they might be able to give you a multi vehicle discount if you live with your parents.
With respect to benefits, as long as you are insured on a policy, you are building your insurance history. Which reduces your rates over time (assuming you have no at fault claims).
