insurance increase

I went into the ditch due to very bad road conditions and black ice. The cops came and did not charge me and wrote on report it was due to road conditions. I am told this is still considered my fault although I was not speeding or charged. How much will by insurance from Belair Direct go up if I make a claim? The damage is around $3,000. I am currently paying $2,500 per year and have no previous claims. I am 23 years old and drive a 2005 Cobalt.I am trying to decide if I should just pay for the damages or make a claim. If my insurance is going to go way up I would rather pay the damages as my deductible is $1000.

Accident on Black Ice

Hi there,
You are correct that this will count as at fault and will likely affect your rates. If you have accident forgiveness in your policy, then it would not affect your rates.

If you don't have accident insurance, it is hard to say what the increase would be. But it would be substantial. And it will be at least 6 years before the accident is off your record.

Good luck with this.
