Insurance cancelled due to speeding tickets
by Trudy
(Caledon Ontario)
My Auto insurance company canceled my insurance stating too many Convictions(i.e. speeding tickets), I asked if this was stated in my policy and the insurance company stated no it was an internal policy. Is this legal and is there anything I can do?
Ontario Auto Insurance Cancellation
Hi Trudy,
This is a common practice among insurers. Most will cancel after three tickets within three years. These internal rules are disclosed to the Financial Services Commission of Ontario for review and approval.
