Must you use a local insurance agent or can you find anyone in the country?

And another question is - the home we are renting is built by my husband. We do not want to insure it for its full market replacement value as my husband can do it a lot cheaper. Can we do this?

You can use anyone licensed to sell insurance in the Yukon.

It is a very bad idea not to insure to full market value. It causes a lot of head aches at time of claim. For one, if your home burnt down, would your husband be able to drop everything and rebuild quickly? And what if he was not well enough to do it? There are so many problems that will come up if you have a claim where you are not insured to full insurable value
