I have G2, can I drive my dads car, but I am not on the insurance?

I am going to Ottawa from Toronto on the weekend and I wanted to take my dads car. I have a G2 licence. Can I take my dads car (which is insured) but I am not listed on it as a driver.
Reply: If you live with him or drive the car on a regular basis you are risking the insurance due to misrepresentation. If you want to be sure that your covered, have your dad call his insurer about it.
I don't want to get pulled over and get a ticket. How much is the ticket if I were to get pulled over?
Reply: Not sure. But your insurance rate increase for the next 3 years would be substantial
If I were to take the car, does it matter if I take it from the highway or from inside roads?
Reply: No
Driving Dad's Car
Hi Nitin,
as you can guess by my reply, you are "playing with fire". If you live with him or drive the car on a regular basis, you need to be listed on the policy.
By the way, are your rates too high? Check here:
