How do I find out about an old life insurance policy

by Lorna C.
(Ontario)

My mom is 92-she always had a insurance polices with Orange Insurance-how can we find out if there is a policy (life)

Answer

Hi Lorna,

I have tried to find details on Orange Insurance. I had not heard of them before. An internet search found this website and phone number.

http://www.grandorangelodge.ca/ins.html
phone: 800 565 6248

Perhaps that is where your mother has/had her insurance? If your mother is still alive they probably will not confirm this for you due to privacy concerns (i.e. without your mothers consent or possibly instruction from a Power of Attorney).

If your mother has passed on, you can go to them with a death certificate. Keep in mind that after death a Power of Attorney is no longer valid.

There are other ways to find an old life insurance policy. They are listed at Lost Life Insurance. Contacting the MIB can be quite helpful.

Hopefully this is of some help to you?
