getting my own car insurance independent of my husband

My husband has just informed me that our car insurance coverage has been suspended since unfortunately it has been cancelled 3 times in 3 years, one of the cancellations ends on January 1st.
Not driving is not an option for me as I have to drive my kids to and from school as well as myself to and from work.
Since I have a huge trust issue with my husband I am trying to get insurance for just myself. Everywhere I have tried will only consider us as one unit since we are married, which I don't see is fair especially since I had no idea this was happening as he kept everything secret.
please I am desperate to find someone who is able to help me.

separate Insurance From Husband
HI Jayne,
You could ask to have him excluded from the policy (OPCF28a). Then the policy would be based only on you AND he could never drive that car.
