Gas fireplace as primary heat source
We use our gas fireplace in our 830 sq. ft. home. We have baseboard heaters in all 6 rooms but only use the one in the bathroom all winter. We will use the baseboard heaters in a couple of the other rooms maybe a few times during the winter but we aren't bothered by the cold too much. An insurance company won't insure us unless we use the baseboard heaters as primary heat source. Why?
Gas Fireplace as Primary Heat
Using a secondary heat source beyond its intended capacity increases the risk of fire.
