Flooring damage claim
by Spence
(London, Ontario Canada)
Our hardwood flooring was recently damaged by a company installing a drinking water system. They flooded part of the house and damaged some of the hardwood flooring. The house is only one year old but the flooring manufactirer went out of business so there is no flooring available to replace the section of flooring that is damaged. The flooring contractor says that they need to replace all the flooring which is about 1,000 square feet to repair the 100 square feet that is damaged. The insurance company says that they will not replace all the flooring. What do I do?

Hi Spence
That's a frustrating situation to be in. Have you explained this to your insurance company? You might need to put some pressure on them.
All that said, the company installing the drinking water system should assume the liability for this since it was their mistake. You should not have had to claim this with your insurance company.
