Driving experience credit for Insurance
by Evrijm

Hi!
I moved to Ontario from Europe. I was fully licensed the past 9 years back at home. I took the knowledge test and skipped g2 class and took g test right away.
Now I hold a G license for a month but when I am quoting insurance premiums I get higher prices since my experience looks a month old.
Will my driving experience from Europe be credited to my G license? Therefore, may I say that I have been holding a G license the past 9 years?
Thank you so much for your response in advance!
Canada Insurance Source Response
Unfortunately your driving experience from Europe will probably not be credited. Having your G license helps a lot. But not having proof of prior insurance is what will hurt you.
You could try to get a letter of experience from your prior insurance company in Europe. A letter of experience proves that you had insurance. It also shows for how long and if you had any claims. With this in hand you might find a carrier that will give you credit.
