Driving a relative's car with whom i don't live with

(Mississauga, Ontario, Canada)

Hi, I am 18 and my family doesn't own or a car or never did since the time we arrived at Canada. My aunt has been driving in Canada for 5 years now and she is quite old, around 60. Can she like buy a second car for herself and buy insurance on that but give the car to me to drive even if she lives in Brampton and I live in Mississauga? Is that legal? she pays for insurance of a car but i drive the car and if she gives me the owner or something? I think she will get cheap insurance on a second car she buys because even now she pays 200$ per month.

Aunt Buy Car For Out of Town Neice?

Hi there,
Your Aunt can own two cars if she wants. But if you are driving it and living in a different city, that needs to be fully disclosed to her insurer. The insurance rates will be based on you driving the car in Mississauge.

Please be sure to discuss this with her insurer. Oh, and by the way, are rates too high? Check here:
