Do I have to be on my wifes auto insurance policy
My wife is looking to buy a brand new car. Right now I have a company car and she does not have a car. I have had one 3 month license suspension almost 4 years ago. Related to this 3 month suspension I took a careless driving conviction in Jan 2009. This is just going to be her car and due to my past if I am on the insurance policy it will make the rates almost 4 times greater than just her being on the policy. Can she have this car insured under her name only or do I have to be on the policy.
Thanks
CM

Most insurers will insist that you are licensed on the policy. You might be able to be excluded by way of an OPCF28a which means that you can never drive the car and you won't be rated on the policy.
Please be sure to discuss this further with a licensed insurance representative. Oh, and by the way, are your rates too high? Check here:
