Deciding to stop driving for winter

Hello

I am possibly going to decide to take the bus for the winter here in Ottawa if i decided to just put fire and theft on my vehicle when i decide to get full insurance back in the spring or summer will this have a overall effect on my rates? or will i still consider to be insured x amount of time?
