Change of address

My son moved into his own apartment, actually 2 miles from his workplace, instead of 20. His insurance went up $400 a year.

How can that be?

Increase in Rates After Move

It's hard to say for sure as there are many variables.

  • If he lived with you previously, he may have lost a multi-vehicle discount.

  • If his postal code changed, he may have moved into a higher priced area

  • Perhaps there is information you don't know about him, like tickets.

  • Perhaps there was information about him that the insurer didn't know previously



It's probably one of the first two. You and he should shop around to see if the rates are high compared to other carriers. Try here:
