Car owner as a secondary driver

My boyfriend was recently bankrupt so i am getting the car financing under my name. Unfortunately i am a newcomer to Ontario so my insurance premium is extremely high. The car will be driven almost exclusively by my boyfriend, can he be listed as the primary driver and, if so, could I get a better rate?
