Car allowence paid can they demand I add the company name on my personal policy.

(Milton, ON Canada)
My employer has given me a monthly car allowance for the past 8 years, they now want me to name them on my personal automobile certificate of insurance. Can they force me to do this and what if any is the additional cost or are there other ramifications? eg: if I get into an accident etc.
Car Allowance and Certificate of Insurance
Well, they can't force you, but they might stop giving a car allowance if you say no.
If you have not disclosed that you use your car for work and then add the company as an additional named insured, then your rates will likely go up.
As for time of claim, this can add another layer of complexity to a process that can already be aggravating.
