cancelled insurance
by Suzanne
(Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
I live in Quebec. I just called my insurance to make a claim and was told that my ex, who was secondary on my insurance, cancelled my policy without my knowledge. I don't check my account and assumed that the withdrawal came out. How can a secondary cancel my account without my written permission, especially if i moved and didn't receive the alleged notification. Wouldn't they just keep billing me until i cancelled
Ex Canceled Insurance
Hi Suzanne
Only the policy owner can cancel the policy. If your ex was the owner your ex was allowed to cancel it. If both of you were owners than you should have been asked to sign. If you were the owner then your ex should not have been able to cancel.
Not sure which situation applies to you. But you should get legal advice and take care of this asap.
