Cancellation of house insurance - Water Questionnairre

by Marg
(Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)

My insurance company cancelled my house insurance without notice saying it was because I did not submit a questionnaire on water damage. Is this legal?

Home insurance canceled

Hi Marg,
Yes, they can cancel if you do not provide required information. You should have received notice of the cancellation via a registered letter from the insurer. The request for information might have come via a letter or phone call from the company or your representative.

You should get in contact with your insurer immediately and see if you can get the information up to date and get the policy put back in force.

Getting canceled by one insurer makes it much harder to get insurance elsewhere.
