can you get insurance to drive any car?

by Mark
(Ontario)

Hi,

I'm listed on my dad's insurance but every time I rent a car I have to pay $20/day for car insurance. I was told that I can get insurance for $25/year and drive any car. Then I was told that my dad's car has to be parked for me to be able to use that insurance. Meaning that the insurance on my dads car will stop when I use another vehicle.
Does that make sense ??

Tks

Insurance to Drive Other Cars

Hi Mark,
That makes sense. I believe you are referring to

" Liability for Damage to Non-Owned Automobile(s)
(OPCF 27):

This endorsement provides physical damage coverage to vehicles that you may operate but do not personally own – such as a vehicle that you have rented or borrowed – subject to a deductible. "

Hope that helps!
