Suspension of coverage
by: Anonymous

OPCF 16 and OPCF 17 are endorsements for the Suspension of Coverage and Reinstatement of Coverage on a vehicle you have listed on your Ontario personal auto insurance policy.

This is most often used when away on extended vacations, travel, etc.. most often.

Ensure you ask your broker to explain what these do to your coverage. Also what it does in reference to coverage if you do not have another auto policy in force.

Umm!! YES, you can stop your insurance temporarily as long as you aren't going to be driving the vehicle you are temp stopping insurance on.

I did that once with my minivan for a couple of months in the summer cause it needed work on it and I didn't have the money to fix it. Just call your insurance company and request to stop your insurance temporarily and they will just ask why and ask you to fill out a letter/ or form stating that you will not drive it while it's not insured.
