Can I have insurance on a leased vehicle that is not in my name?
by Mary
( Toronto, Ontario Canada)
My father has a leased Honda that I am an occasional driver on. He is 74 yrs old and is up for mandatory re-testing. I practice with him but he is not doing well as there is a language barrier and there are no Maltese interpreters in our area. He is going to fail.
My question is, will his insurance be cancelled and if so, can i get insurance on a vehicle that I don't own. I cannot take over the lease as I do not qualify.
What can I expect and what do I do?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks! :)
Insurance on Father's Leased Car
Hi Mary
If you are listed on your fathers policy this might make it easier. Speak with his insurer ASAP. the main thing the leaseco is worried about is that the car is insured.
Please be sure to discuss this further with a licensed insurance representative.
