Can I drive my Girlfriends car?

by Joey
(Barrie)

I am 20 years old and am insured on my families car insurance policy. I would like to be able to drive my girlfriends car though. Am I insured to do so? Of course I have her permission, and does it make any difference whether she is in the car with me or not?

Reply: Driving Girlfriends car

Hi Joey
She should double check with her insurance company. But she can allow anyone who is properly licensed to drive her car. The problem for her is if you have an accident. It will affect her rates (and possibly yours too).

Drive carefully!
