bf driving my car, got into accident, fighting ticket, who goes to court?

six months ago my bf was driving my car when we were hit by another car. The officer on scene failed to ask us any questions at all, including if we were ok. She gave us a ticket and put us at fault. We have a lawyer and are going to court to fight the wrongful "at fault" and the unsafe driving charge. My question is, who has to attend court besides our lawyer? My bf probably does because he was driving, I have provided the lawyer with my statment but do I still have to attend? or will the subpena me if I don't go?
