Address for Ontario car Insurance and drivers license

by Angela
(Oakville, ON, Canada)

Does your insurance and license have to match addresses?

Ontario car Insurance and drivers license

Hi Angela
Thanks for your question. The answer is yes. You are supposed to keep your drivers license up to date. And your insurer wants to know your address.

Hope that helps

Your license (if you are the owner of the vehicle), the vehicle registration and the named insured policy address should all reflect the same address.

You can get a conviction on your driving record for not updating your address with the licence/Motor Transport Office. I haven't seen/heard of it happening alot myself, but it happens.

This is to ensure that if you are given notice in writing of a renewal/cancellation of insurance or changes, or even a ticket and it is sent to this address, that address validates you have been informed. (I believe you can update it on line, making it easier to get it done.)

You didn't answer the question. The question was do you have to have your insurance and licence listed at the same address?
