Adding my vehicle to my brother's insurance
by Luba
(Toronto, Ontario)
Hello I just recently moved from US. I have to register my car and when i called to make an insurance the rate is extremely high. I wanted to know if I can add myself to my brother's insurance, here in Ontario, we live together. And if I do do I need to switch the ownership of the car to his name?
Adding Car to Brother's Policy
Hi Luba,
This is up to his insurer. But he should be able to add the car and yourself to his policy since you are living there. But the rate might be high that way too.
To reduce rates, you should get an abstract from the state you came from as well as a Letter of Experience from your old insurer. That would establish your driving record and hopefully improve your rates.
Good luck.
