Accident Negotiation and Insurance

hi ;
my 22 years old daughter who is insured under my policy had a small accident my car is not damaged at all but other car's bumper is broken i don' t have forgiveness in my policy. cops came and did not charge her but recommended that other driver should bring a quote and we pay her and do not call insurance.we agreed with the quote and going to give her cheque but she does not accept cheque. what if we pay her and still she calls insurance. how we deal with situation.

Accident Paid by Cheque

Hi Rose,
If the other person doesn't want a cheque I am guessing they want cash? It's possible that this person might try and commit fraud by putting it through insurance but still collect cash from you. You want to be careful that this is not the case.

The other person has the right to put the claim through insurance if they want to. And that will impact your rates.

If you do give the other party cash, you should also get a signed receipt from them stating that you have paid for the damages in cash. And keep it for a few years, just in case. Then if they report the accident, you have proof of what they have done.
