Canada Motorcycle Insurance Quote

How to shop around for the best Canada motorcycle insurance quote

There are only a handful of carriers in Canada that offer motorcycle insurance. Some are only available online, others through an agent, and several are through insurance brokers. So it pays to get a few different quotes, online and with a broker. So it pays to shop around and compare your sources.

Several Canadian banks have aggressively entered the Canadian Insurance marketplace in recent years. A couple of them currently offer online motorcycle insurance quotes.

And your local insurance broker is a great place to go as they should be able to get at least a couple of quotes for you. But maybe even four or five depending on which insurers they deal with.

What you need to get a Canada motorcycle insurance quote

When you are going to ask for quotes there will be a number of questions asked so that the insurer can offer a rate. They use a great deal of data and statistics to set rates. So the more data you provide, the more accurate your quote will be. Be prepared to provide:

  • Your full name and address
  • Date of Birth
  • Drivers license number
  • Details of any convictions and accidents (although the insurer will double check with your license info)
  • Details of driver training (if any)
  • year, make, model of bike
  • number of cc's
  • purchase price of bike
  • VIN of bike
  • Previous insurer and policy number (if you had prior)
  • Details of any other drivers in house
  • Use of bike: pleasure, commuting, touring, etc
  • Details of any memberships in motorcycle associations

Getting several quotes should not take too long if you take a few minutes to get everything together in advance of going online for quotes as well as visiting your local broker.
